What’s For Dinner?

As with most things, the better prepared I am the smoother it goes. Last school year, I struggled with making a menu every week. I don’t know why I didn’t just go ahead and make a monthly menu. I’ve done it off and on through the years. One problem with a monthly menu is that I lose it. This year, I’m putting it online with recipes linked where possible. There will be no excuse for not being prepared. Here is a 4 week menu plan that includes 7 meals each week. I attempted to have a the following categories each week just to make sure I wasn’t concentrating all the soups in one week and tex/mex food in another. The categories are: Soup, Roast, Casserole, Crock pot, Stove top, Tex/Mex, Other.

Week 1:

Bean Soup
Pot Roast or Mississippi Crock Pot Roast (serve shredded over mashed potatoes)
Mexican Cornbread
BBQ Chicken/Beef
Spaghetti
Chicken Enchiladas or Beef Enchiladas
Chicken & Dumplings

Week 2:

Potato Soup (I add cheese to mine)
Ham
Nacho Casserole
Meatloaf
Steak
Fajitas
Breakfast

Week 3:

Beef Stew
Baked Chicken
Chicken Spaghetti
Jambalaya
Fried Chicken
Tacos
Hamburgers

Week 4:

Broccoli Soup
Brisket
Lasagna
Chili
Sauteed Chicken/Veges
Chicken, Cheese, Green Chili Soup
Frittata

I’ll be doing good if I get 5 of the 7 meals cooked each week. I’m sure that will be more than enough for us with leftovers for lunch on most meals.

  2. I don’t know how you, moms of many, do it. With two girlies and a hubby, I just wing it with all the things we buy every week. There is always a meal that can be ready. Your menu looks so good, I feel for going to your home and dine with you! :) Any day but the CHICKEN DUMPLING day will be a wonderful special menu for ME, LOL.

Thank you for your comment.
