We have 6 boys. Bunk Beds have been a staple around here for a long time. Well, I'm getting older and don't enjoy climbing up on top of bunk beds to make the bed. True, I don't have to do this, and I don't very often. It's just nice to have your mom make your bed correctly once in a while. Since our oldest son moved to Colorado a month ago, I figured we might be able to spread out a little. We now have 2 twin beds in one room and a twin and full bed in another room.
Since all this moving around has been going on, we are also doing some deep cleaning. That includes simplifying and organizing. I've already gotten rid of a large box of books we don't need. There is probably a couple more boxes worth hiding in various places around the house. With the little one turning 3 last week, I should be able to get rid of some of the baby toys. I also need to go through the clothes closets.
I hope to do most of this by the end of the week. Once that's done, out comes the new chore charts. Aren't the boys going to be excited:). I came up with a new plan last night. Instead of assigning chores to certain children, I will post a chart (like they do in store bathrooms). Whoever does the chore will initial it. Then at the end of the month, I'll see who did what and pay them a nickel or dime (depending on the job) per job they did. This, of course, will bring some hopefully healthy competition to the chores each day. In fact, if they want, they can make their brother's bed and get paid for it. I'll try to keep you posted on how it goes.
I tried paying for chores a couple of years ago, but I went broke. The house was the cleanest it's ever been. I just don't have lots of money to pay the boys. This time, the jobs are reduced to very small portions and so are the payments. I'm going to just start with the bedroom. They do a pretty good job with the bathroom, kitchen, living room etc whenever I ask them to do it.
Now that I've gotten that off my chest, I can get on with the day. It's grocery day.

I want to comment on your entry about believing in God. I really, really like what you said. After walking with HIM and learning to love Him with all my heart, soul, and mind, it’s hard to imagine not believing in Him. Just acknowledging HIS existence gives me everything I need for life, and motivates me to live like HIM. HE truly is All in All. Believing in HIM is a liftestyle, and I’ve chosen to live it.
Thanks for posting those meaningful questions. It’s healthy to answer them.
