For those who don’t know, we have 6 boys. That doesn’t make me an expert on raising boys. It does mean that I have learned a lot about boys over the years. I was once asked why I hadn’t written a book on raising boys. After laughing about it awhile I said, “we don’t have any grand words of wisdom for raising boys.” I have seen many books written on the subject of raising boys and of raising children in general that promote some of the strangest ideas. There’s not that much to it that you need to write a book or books on the subject. In fact, the ultimate book has already been written. I know it sounds cliche but everything we need to know about raising kids is found in the Bible. We don’t need more books. We need more application of Biblical principles.
That being said, there are a few things we have tried to instill in our boys that might give someone something to think about. Instead of writing a book (it would be more like a pamphlet), I thought I would write a few blog posts. I hope someone might be encouraged/inspired/motivated by something I’ve written here.
